Sogi
Sogi, a vibrant pitonu’u of Leone located 12 kilometers southwest of Pago Pago, is steeped in historical and cultural significance. Home to picturesque black sand beaches and the historic Faga o Atua area, Sogi was once a safe harbor for Atua District fleets. It also played a key role in early missionary efforts, with the arrival of the London Missionary Society in 1832 and the establishment of Fagalele, one of the region’s first church schools. With its rich history, stunning coastline, and cultural importance, Sogi offers visitors a unique glimpse into American Samoa’s past and present.
