AMERICAN SAMOA CELEBRATES 125 YEARS

American Samoa proudly marks its 125th Flag Day this April with a vibrant week of events showcasing the territory’s rich cultural heritage, strong U.S. ties, and deep sense of community. The 2025 celebration carries the theme “Tā Mau le Fa’amoemoe” — “Let Us Hold Firm to the Vision.”

Festivities begin on Sunday, April 13, with a special Flag Day church service at Kanana Fou in Tafuna. From there, the week unfolds with nightly Fa’afiafiaga (cultural performances) in Fagatogo from Monday through Wednesday, featuring dance, song, and storytelling from villages across the islands.

Tuesday also kicks off the 250th U.S. Navy Week with an opening ceremony and a live performance by the Navy Band. On Wednesday, April 16, the thrilling Tu’uga Fautasi longboat races take over Pago Harbor, while the U.S. Marine Band brings a festive international flair to the evening’s program.

The celebration culminates on Thursday, April 17, with a Flag Raising Ceremony at dawn in Fagatogo, followed by the official parade and closing ceremony at Veterans Stadium in Tafuna.
